TWINS is an installation of monitors displaying CGI compositions of vaguely zoomorphic, machine-like objects in constant transformation, tied and embraced in ropes in the style of Kinbaku, the Japanese art of bondage. Displayed in the monitors, objects of engineering, instruments of control and dominion: machines, motors, mechanisms, products of scientific knowledge. TV monitors, such ubiquitous, mass-produced elements of household consumption, are transformed into both subjects of captivity and objects of exhibition. Positioned precariously among the audience, they evoke a sense of imminent danger, as if they might topple at any moment. This teetering balance serves as a powerful reflection on freedom and constraint: just as some individuals discover liberation through physical bonds, our interaction with these constrained devices heightens our sensory awareness. In becoming intertwined with these objects, a subtle yet palpable tension emerges, sharpening our engagement with the world. This dynamic serves as a striking metaphor for our complex relationship with technology, highlighting its inherent violence.
